7 Home Features Buyers Drool Over

You’re looking to sell, and a whole lot of buyers are looking to buy. But what is it that buyers really want out of their homes these days? We’re here to spill the tea. With low inventory and high demand, buyers are coming into the market ready to spend big for those special features that make them swoon. And they’re not as complex as you may think. So, we’ll tell you what they want, what they really, really want:

Laundry room

More than anything else, homeowners want a room other than their office or kitchen island to stack their piles of clean laundry until it finally gets put away. We don’t all have the time (or willpower) to sort, fold, and reshelve on the same day we wash.

Outdoor space

With the popularity of renovation reality shows, many buyers envision everything from an outdoor fire pit to a fully stocked wet bar that seats 20. Not to mention the puppy playscape for their two dogs and outdoor cat.

Energy-efficient appliances and windows

Buyers with the smallest to biggest budgets are drawn to properties with Energy Star-qualified windows and appliances. The green movement is here to stay.

Air conditioning or ceiling fans

As housing prices increase, luxury items like air conditioning are becoming the standard. When AC can’t be found, you better bet your bottom that ceiling fans are immediately looked for. No one’s excited about sweating in the summer.

Garage storage space

Garages are quickly becoming our family’s new front door, and unlike an attic or a backyard shed, the garage is always accessible.

Exterior lighting

Besides adding instant curb appeal and an added safety feature, exterior lighting can grab potential buyers’ attention before they even set foot in the front door.

Walk-in pantry

Past an oversized island, a walk-in pantry is the most sought-after kitchen feature. Buyers with families, or a love for cooking, know that kitchens quickly become overcrowded with just the essentials.
